Winter Activities

With the winter weather approaching (along with random 60 degree days) we have enjoyed going outside to play in the snow and mud.  We have also loved dressing up, inventing games, making our own play dough, doing experiments, collecting and sorting things, baking, having tea parties, watching movies, reading books and getting crafty.  Things are joyful here!

Some Fall Fun!

We had gorgeous fall weather this year!  Here are some pictures from November.
We took the easy way out decorating pumpkins this year...stickers!

Owen tried to use his grabber tool to get all the leaves out of their pond and failed

the kids helped rake a fraction of the leaves at Grandma and Poppy's

Ian enjoyed collecting mushrooms

The kids and their cousins found a dead crayfish to explore from our creek!  What a great science lesson!

Last kayak ride of the season

Ian loves being Darth Vader... he lifts the mask up and says "It's just me!"

Owen learned to use the low temp glue gun on his own!  Now he uses it all the time!

Thanksgiving 2016

We had a nice Thanksgiving this year.   The weather was great for playing outside.  The kids wanted to make gingerbread cookies the week of Thanksgiving and get the Christmas Tree decorated.  They were very excited for Christmas to come!

Beautiful Siesta Key, FL

We went to Siesta Key for a family vacation the week before Thanksgiving.  We left after lunch and arrived right as the Broken Egg opened for breakfast... 7AM!  We were pretty tired the first day, but the kids were ready to go to the Beach!  We spent the week playing on the beach!  We also checked our favorites off the list: had coffee & tea at Lelu's, ice cream at Big Olaf's, pizza at Solorzano's, subs from Munchies and lobster bisque from The Hub.  New discoveries were the beautiful trees, birds and trails at Red Bug Slough Preserve in Sarasota and fossilized shark teeth along the shores of Caspersen Beach.  What a great trip!!!
We met some nice people that insisted that we get a family picture before we left for home!  The kids had a week of hard playing and were exhausted!  This was the final night sunset... so beautiful!

Look at that sand! So soft!
Beach play all day :)

All Ian wanted to play was dump trucks and chase seagulls

Pretty bird at the Red Bug Slough Preserve in Sarasota

Outdoor Naturescape

We've slowly been working on creating a special play area for the kids in the woods.  We've repurposed an old ladder and some boards from an old play set we were given parts from.  It's been a lot of fun to work on and even more fun to watch the kids play in!
